Me at the Chargers/Packers game
I always say, if there is one guy I could have pizza with, it’d be Brett Favre.
In case you’re wondering, Brett Favre is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play professional football…, he’s been my hero for the last 16 years. When I played sports in high school, I always picked #4 as my jersey number because of him.
ESPN reported today that Brett Favre has decided to retire from football. I knew it was coming, but I didn’t want to think about it. It’s not easy for me.
I think about the past 16 years, and what this guy has meant to me. One of my greatest memories was when my dad took me to Wisconsin for my birthday to see the Panthers play Favre and the Packers at Lambeau Field. My brothers and I have traveled to San Diego, San Francisco, Arizona and even Florida to watch him play. My mom would call me during the game to check on the score. My wife, who was never a football fan before we dated, became a Favre fan. She would even defend him if/when others would say anything negative about him. He brought my family closer, giving us something to cheer for together.
Thank Christ for you Brett! I pray God blesses you and you’re family during this major transition. And, if you ever read this… I know of a great pizza place here in Newport Beach, California. My treat!
